KARACHI, March 27: Academics, religious scholars and political figures have condoled the death of Dr Maulana Mohammad Amjad Thanvi. He died of cardiac arrest on Sunday at the age of 58.
In their messages, they prayed that Almighty Allah rest his soul in eternal peace and give the bereaved family the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
Lately involved in construction business, Maulana Amjad Thanvi had also remained a member of the NED University’s syndicate as a nominee of the Sindh governor for nine years.
During his tenure, which ended in Jan 2005, he put in his best and sincere efforts in developing the university and took keen interest in resolving its day to day problems, said the NED registrar in his condolence message.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain, expressed sorrow over the Maulana’s sad demise and sympathy with the bereaved family. The deceased was brother of Maulana Asad Thanvi.
Maulana Tanveerul Haq Thanvi, founder and president of the Jamia Ehteshamia, said that Dr Amjad Thanvi was a true supporter of the ideology of Pakistan and had also rendered valuable services to the promotion of Islam.
Mufti Mohammad Naeem of Binoria University International said that religious and political services of the late Thanvi were praise worthy. The vacuum created due to his demise may hardly be filled.
Nazim of the Islami Jamiat Talaba Syed Abdur Rasheed and other office-bearers have also expressed their shock and grief over the Maulana’s death.
