4 Afghans die in landmine blast

KANDAHAR, March 26: Four Afghan civilian including a woman were killed when their taxi car struck a landmine planted by Taliban in southern Afghanistan on Sunday, witnesses said. “We believe it was the work of the Taliban — It was very similar to bombs we’ve seen in Taliban attacks in the past,” a police colonel said asking anonymity.

The Taliban, who have been waging an insurgency in Afghanistan since their toppling by a US-led offensive in late 2001, have been using road-side bombs in their attacks.—AFP
