KARACHI: Consultant firm warned

Published March 27, 2006

KARACHI, March 26: The City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal, on Sunday ordered the issuance of a show cause notice to a consultant firm working on development works at the Gharibabad and Liaquatabad underpasses for absence during construction work, and ordered that one of their representatives should remain present at the site in future.

The nazim on Sunday paid a sudden visit to the sites of Gharibabad, Liaquatabad and Nazimabad underpasses and inspected ongoing construction work there.

He inquired about concerned officials and representatives of the city government’s Works and Services Department, KWSB, the contracting firm and consultant, posted at the sites.

The consultant, Aijaz Ahmed, nor any of his representatives was present at the Gharibabad and Liaquatabad underpasses at the sites.

Issuing notice to the consultant firm, Kamal said the consultant was responsible for completing the work on time.

He directed the representative of the KESC, gas and concerned city government departments to be present at the site, so no impediment occurred in the work.—APP
