KARACHI, March 25: A man was shot dead by the police in what they claimed was an encounter in Rizvia on Saturday. Police said three robbers intercepted a rickshaw carrying two women and tried to loot them at gunpoint when policemen on patrol noticed the incident.

The police told them to surrender, but instead, the robbers opened fire at them and tried to flee.

The police returned the fire killing one of them on the spot. The other two robbers managed to escape.

The police claims to have recovered a TT pistol from the killed robber, who appeared to be Bengali speaking.

KILLED: A 14-year-old boy was killed with kicks and blows by a milkman over a petty issue in Baldia Town on Saturday.

Police said Meraj had a dispute with Abdul Khaliq over a petty matter. They exchanged hot words and then attacked each other with kicks and blows.

Khaliq allegedly punched the boy in his abdomen throwing the boy to the ground. He was shifted to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. Police arrested Abdul Khaliq and started an investigation.
