Inflation shows steady decline: SBP governor

By Our Correspondent

NEW YORK, March 24: State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Dr Shamshad Akhtar said on Thursday that there were visible signs that inflation in Pakistan was on a steady decline.

“By and large, given the substantive monetary tightening that we have had in the past few months, we do see visible results of inflation coming down,” said Dr Shamshad, who is part of an economic delegation currently visiting New York.

She said: “The latest results of the last few months show deceleration of inflation, combined with the fact that monetary tightening and easing of supply shortages seems to be working and it’s moving in the right direction”.
