Work on illegal plazas, housing colonies halted

By Our Correspondent

GUJRANWALA, March 24: Work on illegal housing colonies and commercial plazas have been stopped by the district administration across the district. The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting presided over by DCO Manzar Hayat here on Friday.

The meeting noticed that owners of scores of unlawful commercial and residential colonies were fleecing the people on the pretext of providing better facilities through advertisements in print and electronic media.

It suggested that the construction work on all such projects should be halted till the completion of the scrutiny process.

For this purpose, all town nazims and municipal officers of Aroop, Nandipur, Khiali, Qila Dedar Singh, Kamoki, Naushera Virkan and Wazirabad had been given directions by the district administration.

The DCO ordered that offices of all such construction firms should be sealed and registered criminal cases against their owners.

He urged the people to avoid making any investment in housing colonies and plazas without seeking information from the district government. All town nazims and senior officers of various government departments attended the meeting.
