ISLAMABAD, March 23: The NWFP government has taken various measures to check the spread of bird flu virus. Director-General of Livestock and Poultry Develop-ment, Dr Sher Mohammad Khan, told VOA that results of cases from Charsadda and Abbottabad had been confirmed.

“We have taken all precautionary measures. Our teams are constantly monitoring the situation in different areas,” he said.

A task force had been set up to check spread of the virus, he said, adding that it would comprise 24 teams which would conduct a comprehensive survey of poultry farms and secure 30,000 samples for examination.—APP
