Army engineers being trained on damage assessment

ISLAMABAD, March 23: A USAID-funded organization is helping train 600 Pakistan military engineers to assess the severity of earthquake damage to buildings and promote earthquake-resistant construction techniques. In a series of three-day workshops in the NWFP and Kashmir, the military engineers learnt how to assess damaged structures, identify safe and unsafe building locations and help people build strong houses in areas affected by the earthquake.
