KARACHI: Clash over burial

KARACHI, March 23: Several vehicles were set ablaze and one person was wounded in firing when two groups clashed over an attempt to bury caretaker of the Mazar within its premises in Garden area on Thursday. During the violence, at least two motorcycles and a car were set on fire while a man identified as Fayaz suffered a gun-shot wound in Marwari Mallah, Gazdarabad.

Police said that trouble started when some members of the Kathiwari community tried to bury Mohammad Qasim, caretaker of the Imam Shah Bukhari Mazar, in the premises of the Mazar.

However, Marwari community of the area, opposed the move, saying that burial should not take place on the premises of the Mazar.

Subsequently, the clash occurred during which used of fire-arms was also reported.
