KARACHI: Pakistan Day observed with fervour

KARACHI, March 23: Pakistan Day was observed here on Thursday with traditional zeal and fervour, as a day to resolve make the country a strong, progressive and enlightened state. The day dawned with a 21-gun salute in the provincial capital and special prayers offered in mosques for the country’s progress and solidarity. The change-of-guards ceremony was held at the Quaid’s mausoleum, followed by wreath laying by representatives of the armed forces of Pakistan.

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim and provincial cabinet members visited the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam in the morning to pay homage to the Father of the Nation, Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. They also offered Fateha.

Due to the last year’s earthquake, the day was observed with simplicity and the traditional armed forces’ parade was not held.

A large number of citizens, including school-children, workers of social organizations visited the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam to pay homage to the Father of the Nation.

National flag was hoisted on all major public and private buildings. Various organizations, town municipal administrations and schools held seminars and functions.

Different programs were held throughout the city celebrating Pakistan Day. A grand Pakistan Day celebration was held at the Commecs Institute of Business and Emerging Sciences (CIBES) to commemorate the 66th Pakistan Day. IBA director, Danishmand, was the chief guest at the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, he said time only favours hard work, dedication and commitment.

He said new ideas must be put into practice if Pakistan wished to excel among the nations of the world. The event also marked the launching of the 12th issue of the college’s magazine, Payam-i-CIBE.

Students presented Urdu and English speeches, skirts and national songs expressing their profound feelings for their country. Ibad, Arbab: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has said that Pakistan Day reminds the whole nation of the ideology and principles on the basis of which Pakistan was created.

“It also reminds us of the efforts and vision of the Founder of Pakistan, Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah which led to the formation of a separate nation,” said the governor while visiting the Quaid’s mausoleum to pay tributes and offer fateha for the Quaid on Pakistan Day here on Thursday.

Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim and provincial ministers were also present.
