ISLAMABAD, March 23: The National Tariff Commission (NTC) is considering a proposal to exempt anti-dumping duty on export of polyester filament yarn (PFY) of 10 producers from Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia and Thailand against price undertaking. An official told Dawn on Thursday the proposal was under consideration following acceptance of the price undertaking by the NTC from these exporters.

A similar price undertaking had also been suggested by the NTC to all exporters who were subject to anti-dumping duty to offer the similar price undertaking, which would result in removing of anti-dumping on PFY.

The official said that if after due process, the NTC decided to accept the price undertakings offered, definitive anti-dumping duties levied on imports of the investigated product from these exporters should ceased.

The exporters who approached NTC for price undertaking included: P.T Polyfin Caggih, Indonesia; PT Mitra Lintas International, Indonesia; P.T Mitra Dutanusa Sejati, Indonesia; Hyosung Corporation, Korea; HK Corporation, Korea; Hanswill Co. Ltd, Korea; S. K Filament, Malaysia; Chiem Patana, Thailand; Siam Moderntex Co, Thailand and Tuntex Company Limited, Thailand.
