LAHORE, March 22: Developers of seven housing schemes were fined Rs100,000 each for violating environment laws by the Punjab Environment Protection Tribunal here on Wednesday. The Tribunal comprising Syed Zamir Hussain Shah and Mansoor Akbar Kaukab imposed fines on Eden Canal, Rajput Town, Green Forts-2, Aaabpara, EME, Izmir Town and P&D Town housing schemes developers when they conceded to have violated the mandatory provision of launching their schemes after obtaining a no-objection certificate following environment impact assessment under the Pakistan Environment Protection Act during the hearing of an Eco Watch Trust complaint here on Wednesday.

Complainant’s counsel Imran Ahmed Bhatti and Jehanzaib Nazir Malik pointed out that the developers had not made proper arrangements for sewage disposal in their housing schemes so far.
