KARACHI: JSQM holds rally against leader’s ‘abduction’

KARACHI, March 22: The Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) staged a protest demonstration in front of the Governor’s House here on Wednesday against the ‘abduction’ of its General Secretary Dr Safdar Sarki allegedly by security agencies.

JSQM supporters, carrying banners and placard, raised slogans and demanded that the whereabouts of Dr Sarki be made public. They presented a memorandum to the governor in this regard.

The protesters also deplored razing of villages and arrest of nationalist activists and demanded that demolition operations be stopped immediately.

Addressing the protesters, JSQM Chairman Bashir Qureshi said that the abduction of Dr Sarki was not only a blatant violation of human rights, but also an illegal and criminal act on behalf of the agencies.

He announced that 100 JSQM activists and workers would observe a 10-day hunger strike in front of the Karachi Press Club from April 2 against the disappearance of Dr Sarki.

Among those who participated in the demo were JSQM Vice-Chairman Dr Niaz Kalani, Acting-President of the JSSF Rooplo Cholyani, Riaz Chandio, Hakeem Notyar, Masood Kandhro and Manzoor Mangi.—PPI
