Sales tax exemption

ISLAMABAD, March 22: The Central Board of Revenue has exempted sales tax from local supply to international organizations for the earthquake rehabilitation in NWFP and Azad Kashmir. The decision was announced through a sales tax notification SRO274 of 2006 issued here on Wednesday by making special rules for tax exemption from supplies against international tender for the earthquake rehabilitation.

According to the notification, the taxable supply shall be exempted from sales tax made by registered persons to the International Committee of the Red Cross, the United Nations Development Project, the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, the United Nations International Children Emergency Fund, the World Food Programme and the World Health Organization.
