KARACHI, March 21: A “Global Action Day” was observed on the appeal of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists and the All Pakistan Newspapers Employees Confederation on Tuesday to protest against the disappearance of journalist Hayatullah Khan, who was abducted from North Waziristan on December 5 last year, according to a press release issued by the PFUJ.

The main protest rally was held in Islamabad, where the protesters marched from the camp office of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Press Club to the United Nations office carrying placards and banners. Children of the missing journalist and members of the Tribal Union of Journalists (TUJ) participated in the demonstration. They also staged a protest sit-in on the road leading to the President’s House for about an hour.

In Karachi, the Karachi Union of Journalists brought out a procession from the Karachi Press Club and submitted a memorandum at the Governor’s House.

In Lahore, the Punjab Union of Journalists took out a procession from the Lahore Press Club and marched to the Governor’s House, where a protest meeting was held.
