Hashmi laid to rest


KARACHI, March 21: S.H. Hashmi, one of the pioneers of Pakistan’s advertising and marketing industry, who passed away on Monday, was laid to rest in the Defence Housing Society Graveyard on Tuesday afternoon. His Namaz-e-Janaza was offered at Masjid-i-Sultan.

The funeral was attended by a large number of people from various walks of life, including politicians, city elite, advertising professionals and journalists.

Prominent among them were Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, former president Farooq Ahmed Khan Leghari, President PML Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Syed and federal Minister for Information Technology Owais Ahmed Leghari.

Those who offered condolences over the passing away of Mr Hashmi included President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.

In separate condolence messages, the president and the prime minister lauded the services of Mr Hashmi for the advertisement, marketing and newspaper industry and said he had introduced new trends in the field of marketing and advertisement.—APP
