KARACHI: KU approves award of 32 PhD, MPhil, MS degrees


KARACHI, March 21: The Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR), University of Karachi has approved award of 32 MPhil, PhD and MS degrees in addition to giving approval of 71 admissions to the same degree courses. A KU official said on Tuesday that a meeting of the BASR held on March 13 approved award of 14 PhD degrees, 17 MPhil degrees and an MS degree in various disciplines.

Those who were found eligible for PhDs included Noor Kamil (Pharmacology), Sabir (Sociology), Azizuddin, Mohammad Ali and Kiran Iqbal (Chemistry-HEJ), Ejaz Ahmed Samadani (Quran and Sunnah), Arifa Bukhari (Urdu), Iftikhari Shafi (English), Kaniz Fizza Hashmi (Special Education), Anis Fatima (Sindhi), Ghulam Rasool Sarwar (Botany), Mohammad Iqbal Khan (Public Administration), Mohammad Hussain Lakhvi (Islamic Learning) and Mohammad Zarrar Khan (Pharmaceutical Chemistry).

Candidates found eligible for award of MPhil degrees were Shagufta Nesar (Pharmaceutics), Tayyabun Nisa (Microbiology), Farhanullah Khan (Chemistry), Arifullah and Shireen Sadruddin (Pharmacology), Choudhary Mohammad Irfan (Applied Economics), Syed Aun Raza Naqvi (Botany), Mohammad Arif (Economics), Aftab Ahmed Sheikh, Syed Samiullah and Mohammad Rafiq (Anatomy), Ghulam Rasool, Sheikh Nadeem Ahmed and Salahuddin Qureshi (Pharmacology) and Abdul Majeed Khan, Kelash and Amar Lal (Physiology).

The BASR found another candidate Dr Munir Ahmed eligible of an MS degree in ENT.—PPI
