KARACHI, March 21: Brisk shipping activity was observed at the port where four ships carrying containers, seeds, chemicals and iron ore took berths at the QICT, MPT, EVT, Iron ore and Coal Berth during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Tuesday.

Three more ships with chemicals and containers also got anchored at the outer anchorage.

Seven ships — Nedllyd Muscat, Bulk Canada, Warbah, Mighty Michales, Ocean Thi, Yanaseni and Hua Shan Hai — are currently at the berths to load and offload containers, seeds, diesel oil, wheat, coal, chemicals and iron ore.

A cargo volume of 90,471 tons comprising 77,007 tons imports and 13,464 tons exports was handled during.

Two ships, Mighty Michales and Warbah, departed, while Ocean Thi is expected to sail on Tuesday. Four ships — MSC Austria, Diler-4, Mariella and Stolt Tenacity — are expected to take berths on Tuesday.

Islamabad is due to arrive to load rice on Tuesday, while four more ships, Asian Trader, Indonesia Star, Thuriangia Express and Eurydice, with containers and crude oil are due to arrive on Wednesday.
