Democracy emerging in Iraq: Bush

WASHINGTON, March 20: President George W. Bush, confronted with a flagging support for the war in Iraq, urged Americans on Monday to see a developing democracy beyond the frequent images of violence.

In a speech he had earlier promised to unravel his strategy to win the war in Iraq, Mr Bush told an audience at Cleveland that Iraqi troops were already taking over responsibilities from US and allied forces.

Earlier, Mr Bush told reporters Nato’s training mission in Iraq will help ensure that Iraqi security forces “can end up protecting the Iraqi people from those who want to kill innocent people’’.
