KARACHI, March 18: Nine ships carrying general cargo and to load rice are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Sunday, according to KPT sources. Berthing activity at the wharves was active where seven ships were berthed to unload and load containers, coal, general cargo and vehicles. They are: Maersk Alabama, Corin Thaikos, E.O.S.-1 and Orient Independence to unload and load containers, Regine to offload and load general cargo, Ngnos to offload coal, and European Highway, to unload vehicles.
Three ships, Eax Sanctity, European Highway, and Al-Mamoori-2 departed, while Regine, Maersk Alabama, Orient Independence and Corin Thaikos are due to sail out on Sunday.
Cargo handling activity at the wharves was relatively slow where the total tonnage handled fell to 65,352 tons comprising 14,083 tons of export cargo and 51,269 tons of import tonnage.
The following ships are due on Sunday: Kota Tampan, Iran Kordestan, Ever Guide, Sagamore, Mol Asante, Bunga Kenari, and Iran Tabatabaei, to unload and load containers, Energy Falcon, to load 23,350 tons of rice and Morning Sun to offload vehicles.
The following vessels are due on Monday: Meriom Dream, Champion Pioneer, to load 12,000 and 28,000 tons of molasses, Hanjin Busan, Sinar Bontang, with containers, Ocean Wave, to load 12,000 tons of rice, Med Dignity, to offload coal, B.B.C.Greece, with steel pipes.
