Villager killed by landmine

QUETTA, March 17: A man was killed by a landmine which exploded in a village in Jaffarabad district on Friday. Four other people were injured in a bomb blast in Mach. According to sources, the man, Nehal Khan, was killed when his bullock cart hit a landmine planted on a road near Malguzar area. The bull was also killed.

In Mach, the bomb exploded in the main market of the township. Police took the four injured to the Mach Civil Hospital. Several shops were damaged in the explosion, which took place at a time when most of the market was closed for Friday prayers.

Meanwhile, tribesmen fired six rockets on Frontier Corps checkpoints in Pahtar Nullah area of Pirkoh gas field, while five rockets exploded near the Haider post in Dera Bugti. No damage was reported.

According to reports from Kohlu, exchanges of heavy firing took place between tribesmen and security forces in Karmo-Wadh area.
