ISLAMABAD, March 17: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry called upon the members of Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) to extend cooperation to the judiciary and play their role in the establishment of a just and civilized society.
He was talking to the members of PBC executive committee during a visit to the bar council’s offices here on Thursday.
The CJP said efforts would be made to resolve the problems being faced by the bar council and to facilitate its members in discharging their responsibilities in the apex court.
He said the Supreme Court was working to provide speedy justice to the litigants and reduce the burden on judiciary.
Mr Chaudhry said problems of office accommodation and provision of necessary books for library would also be considered.
Earlier, PBC Vice-Chairman Ali Ahmed Kurd and Executive Committee Chairman Syed Qalb Hasan welcomed the chief justice.
They apprised him of their problems especially paucity of space for accommodation of PBC office and its library.
Supreme Court Registrar Dr Faqir Hussain was also present on the occasion.—APP
