Soomro for inter-faith dialogue

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, March 17: The Senate Chairman Muhammadmian Soomro on Friday called for an inter-faith dialogue between the Muslim countries and the West to promote understanding between the two.

Speaking at the concluding ceremony of the Cultural Week at International Islamic University (IIU), he said OIC and IIU could work with the Senate to achieve this objective.

The West, Mr Soomro said, should respect not only Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), but all Prophets should be equally revered.

He said the Muslim states would have to make progress in the field of science and technology to achieve place for themselves in the community of developed countries.

The Senate chairman later distributed prizes among the winners of different events of the Cultural Week.

Dr Mehmood Ghazi, Vice President of the University Dr Abdul Khaliq Qazi and members of faculty also spoke on the occasion.
