KARACHI, March 17: The conference on “Work and dignity and mobility with dignity will be an important event during the forthcoming World Social Forum’s gathering in the city.   World Dignity Forum (WDF), a Delhi-based network of Civil Society Organizations working against all forms of discrimination, is organizing a big conference on ‘Work and Dignity and Mobility with Dignity” on March 26. The conference will be followed by a rally with estimated participation of 10,000 people.

It would also reflect a regional solidarity on issues which resonate in all South Asian nations, yet is disregarded in a formal national-legal-regional sense.   In addition, the event is also aimed at generating debate on discrimination on the basis of caste with focus on Daliat issue in India and problems faced by Scheduled-caste in Pakistan.

Besides, a range of topics, including dignity at work; caste, dignity and descent-based occupations; rights and struggles of migrant labour in Asia; mobility with dignity; work and livelihood strategies; democracy, citizens and migrants exclusion; nationalism and globalisation will be discussed in global perspective, in general, and South Asia perspective, in particular.

A large number of participants from Afghanistan, West Asia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, North and South Korea, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh and India and Africa will be attending the activities of WDF.
