KARACHI, March 17: Eight ships including a car carrier with 822 units are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources. Berthing activity at the wharves was modest where three ships, Maniwa, Al-Mamoori-2, to unload and load general cargo and Golden Express to unload and load containers were berthed after the departure of 10 ships.

The ships, which sailed out included Hyundai Highway, Y.M. Sun, Golden Express, Marcalabria, Kota Waruna, Dubulti, Aquadance, Bellatrix-1,maniwa, Angelina, The Great, and Shalamar.

Al-Mamoori-2, European Highway, Eax Sanctity, Gulf Pride, E.O.S-1, and Maersk Alabama are expected to sail out on Saturday after loading various commodities and containers.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was relatively slow where the total tonnage handled fell to 73,026 tons comprising 17,254 tons of export tonnage, including 1,556 tons of rice and 836 tons of cement and 55,772 tons of import cargo.

The following ships are due on Saturday: Swat, Meriom Dream, Johar, with crude oil, Global Express, Kota Tampan, Bunga Delima and Sagamore, with containers and Morning Sun, with 822 vehicles.
