Senator sets a good example

ISLAMABAD, March 16: Mian Raza Rabbani of the People’s Party Parliamentarians stopped sitting in the chamber of the leader of the opposition in the Senate on March 11, the day he ceased to be a member of house, although he was re-elected in the March 6 election.

Mr Rabbani, who could use the chamber till the coming in of a new leader of the opposition has also returned the official car to the Senate secretariat and got his desk telephones blocked.

On the contrary, a source pointed out, federal ministers and ministers of state who were re-elected as senators and needed to take a fresh oath under the rules, continued to sit in their offices and use the perks and privileges of their ministerial posts.—Staff Reporter
