PESHAWAR, March 16: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal president Qazi Hussain Ahmad has said that the NWFP government has failed to control the law and order situation in the province.
Speaking at an ulema convention here on Thursday, he said that crime rate in the province was increasing, particularly abduction cases. He said the government had neither curbed vulgarity nor improved the performance of police.
He said deteriorating law and order situation was a setback for the MMA government.
The MMA leader said he had issued directives to provincial ministers to check crimes but they could not deliver.
He said the alliance would take action against the MPAs who did not vote for MMA candidates in the Senate election.
The MMA chief demanded formation of an interim government before general elections.
He said the MMA would not accept elections under the supervision of a general.
He asked the government to set up an independent election commission to conduct elections in 2007.
He said the government had not taken the opposition into confidence while appointing the election commissioner. He said opposition leaders would visit North Waziristan soon.
