KARACHI: Vocational centres planned

KARACHI, March 16: The city government plans to open 250 literacy and vocational centres in Karachi where adults will be imparted education and skill training to enable them to get jobs or earn livelihoods on their own, said the Naib Nazim, Nasreen Jalil.

Talking to PPI, she said IT labs will be established in the city’s schools, adding that the programme will be initiated from Landhi.

Jalil said membership of the women sports complex to women citizens would be opened soon. The city council will decide the fees and criteria of the membership in its next meetings, she said.

She was optimistic that when the city council’s committees become operational, they will monitor the departmental performance of the city government and discuss the civic problems of citizens in the house and propose solutions.

She further said that a number of traffic development projects were also under consideration by the city government, which would be implemented soon to ease the traffic congestion problems.—PPI
