KARACHI: PML’s reorganization to be completed soon

KARACHI, March 15: The reorganization of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in Sindh will be completed by March 31 up to the level of union council.
This was stated by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Sindh Chapter Secretary General Mamnoon Hussain.
He said that organizational setup had already been completed on district level, and in many cases party structure at the city level had also been completed, leaving a few cities and UCs for which decisions are likely to be taken in a week or so.
Mr Hussain, who is former Sindh Governor, talking to a group of journalists on Wednesday said that Pakistan Muslim League chief Nawaz Sharif had summoned a meeting of the central working committee of the party in London on March 24 and 25 where important decisions would be taken, including a strategy for launching the movement to press rulers to form an independent election commission and a caretaker setup before calling for general elections in 2007.
To a question, he said that the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy had already formulated some recommendations which had been sent to the party heads to seek their consent.
To another question, he said that the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy had considered all options about launching a movement or join hands to form a grand opposition alliance for participation in the coming elections. However, so far no decision had been taken.
When asked about the outcome of the meeting between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shahbaz Sharif and Pakistan Peoples Party chief Benazir Bhutto in Dubai, Mr Hussain said it was an informal meeting where the leaders of both parties exchanged views on political situation prevailing in the country, but no decision had been taken about the formation of an electoral alliance to contest the elections.
When his attention was drawn towards the government offer to the opposition parties to suggest names for appointing one of them as chief election commissioner, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader said the government was not serious.
Had it been serious, it had sent formal letters to the leaders of the opposition for suggesting the names. However, he said, the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy and Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal had already taken a stand and are demanding formation of a new independent election commission, and that a caretaker government should be set up before holding general elections as they had no faith in the present setup.
