3 FC troops injured in landmine explosion

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, March 14: Three Frontier Corps (FC) troops were injured in a landmine explosion in the Chattar Fuliji area of Dera Bugti on Tuesday. Official sources said that a pick-up carrying FC personnel was blown up when it hit the landminem injuring the troops. The pick-up was destroyed.

The injured, identified as Tariq Mehmood, Mohammad Tariq and Sibghatullah, were taken to a hospital in Sui.

The sources also said that security forces entered Nawab Akbar Bugti’s fort in Dera Bugti and took three people into custody — Dost Mohammad Bugti, Ghulam Mohammad Bugti and Mir Beg.

The troops found rockets, AK-47 rifles, rocket launcher, light machineguns and hundreds of rounds in the fort.

A Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) spokesman said that some portions of the fort caught fire after the attack.

In a statement, the spokesman regretted that even though the troops had got control of the fort they kept on firing rockets and mortar shells, damaging the historical heritage.

“Security forces entered the fort by making a hole in one of its walls,” he said.

He said several parts of the fort had been destroyed in firing made by security forces without provocation, adding that troops had taken over pickets and posts earlier manned by Bugtis and they were looting closed shops and houses in the township.

The JWP spokesman condemned the attack on the vacant fort and houses in Dera Bugti.
