LAHORE, March 12: Devastating bowling by Sabahat Rasheed and fine batting by Shumaila Mushtaq and Sana Javed propelled Lahore Region to win the 2nd national women cricket championship beating Karachi Region by 40 runs in the final at the Qadhafi Stadium on Sunday.

Sabahat, who was declared Woman-of-the-Final claimed seven wickets giving away 42 runs as Karachi Region were all out for 197 in 46 overs while chasing target of 237.

Only Batool Fatima (53 with six fours), Sana Mir (39 with seven fours) and Urooj (30 with five fours) were the key scorers.

Earlier, batting first, Shumaila, who was declared the Woman-of-the-Tournament, struck 86 with nine fours off 127 balls to help Lahore pile up 237-4 in 50 overs.

Sana Javed was the second top scorer with 90-ball 64, hitting seven fours. Nabila Asif was the main wicket taker with three for 59.

The winners received a cash prize of Rs50,000 and the runners-up Rs25,000. Sabahat pocketed Rs5,000.
