Stallions fight for victory

KARACHI, March 11: Sialkot Stallions survived some anxious moments before inflicting a three-wicket defeat on Rawalpindi Rams in the National One-day Regional Gold League match at the National Stadium on Saturday.

The Stallions, crowned Twenty20 Cup champions last weekend, won in the 46th over but lost seven wickets in reaching 223.

Opener Atiqur Rahman (60 off 93 balls, two fours), Bilal Hussain (38) and Shahzad Malik (36) were the chief run-getters.

Earlier, former Test opener Mohammad Wasim (74 off 106 balls, eight fours) and all-rounder Yasir Arafat (an unbeaten 64 off 67 balls, five fours) were the Rams’ mainstays after being asked to bat first.
