Three booked for arms smuggling

KOHAT, March 11: Two armymen and a Punjab police official were arrested on Saturday while trying to smuggle arms and ammunition from Darra Adamkhel, a press release issued by the district police said.

A Frontier Constabulary platoon which was on a routine patrol of the Indus Highway intercepted a coaster near the Rawalpindi inter-section and upon checking found arms and ammunition from three of the passengers.

The smugglers were identified as Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Ishaq of the army’s engineering corps and Mohammad Iqbal, an official of the Punjab police.

The seized arms and ammunition include two 44-bore rifles, four 30-bore pistols, two 12-bore repeaters, four chargers and 2,000 cartridges.
