KARACHI: Plan for foreigners’ protection finalized
KARACHI, March 10: A contingency security plan to ensure protection of foreigners in the province was prepared in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui on Friday.
The minister said that law enforcement agencies along with private security agencies, which had been assigned security tasks at famous hotels, must adopt effective security strategies to ensure security of foreigners in the metropolis.
Talking about security arrangements at the hotels, where foreigners generally stay during their visits, he said that Sindh police and Rangers should coordinate with the private security agencies in this regard. He was of the opinion that growth of hotel industry was linked with the security of these hotels and any untoward incident could badly affect hotel industry.
Rauf Siddiqui called upon the private security agencies to be more efficient and active so that they could easily identify and point out the suspicious objects or persons during their duty.
The home minister apprised the meeting that regular patrolling by personnel of “Labaik Force” of Sindh police would be started and modern wireless technology would be provided to them. He said that only efficient and devoted security officials would be appointed for monitoring important spots through vigilant cameras and no one would be assigned more than two hours duty at these cameras.
Among others, the meeting was attended by IGP Jehangir Mirza, CCPO Niaz Ahmed Siddiqui, all TPOs and security officers of private security agencies providing security services in posh hotels of the city. —APP
