Unbeaten Amir to tackle Argentinian

GLASGOW (Scotland), March 10: Amir Khan’s next opponent will be Argentine lightweight Diego Madole. Amir, who made his name by winning Olympic silver medal as a 17-year-old at the 2004 Athens Games, is building a reputation as a confident, fast-punching big hitter, although he is still taking fights with a maximum six rounds.

He will chase his seventh straight professional victory at Glasgow’s Braehead Arena on March 25.

Madole has won 11 of his 16 fights with two draws, and lost on points to Sergio Gonzalez in a challenge for the Argentine lightweight title.

“I’ve just had a look at his record and he looks like a good, tough kid,” Amir said Friday. “I’m hoping he will give me a few rounds and give me a test but I’m confident I can get another win to send all my Scottish fans home happy.

“I know he’ll come to have a go because these South American fighters are really hard and he will not be intimidated.”—Agencies
