PCB to pay for five members

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, March 10: Sri Lankan cricket authorities will bear expenses for 20 members of the Pakistan cricket squad while Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will have to pay for the remaining five.

PCB has named a 25-member squad for the 23-day tour of Sri Lanka involving three ODIs and two Tests.

The squad departs on Sunday and returns on April 6.

Eight officials have been selected to accompany the 17-member team which makes the contingent one of the biggest-ever representing Pakistan cricket team.

The eight officials making the trip are coach Bob Woolmer, manager Zaheer Abbas, bowling coach Waqar Younis, assistant manager-cum-assistant coach Shahid Aslam, trainer Murray Stevenson, physiotherapist Darren Lifson, doctor Asad Rauf and an analyst.

Meanwhile, the team was unofficially leaked to the press on Thursday and carried by the electronic and print media.

However, PCB chairman Shaharyar M. Khan was little worried about the leak.

“As the team has been finalised on Thursday and the unselected boys have to be relieved, the media got hold of the final squad,” he said.
