Imran demands end to military operation

By Our Correspondent

PESHAWAR, March 10: Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan has called upon the government to stop the military operation in the North Wazirtistan Agency, saying that it is creating hatred among the tribal people for the armed forces.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he alleged that the armed forces were killing innocent people in the so-called war on terrorism.

“There is no Al Qaeda operative in the agency,” said Mr Khan, adding that innocent tribesmen were being killed to appease the US.

He asked the government to allow a fact-finding team of different political parties to visit North Waziristan.

The PTI leader said the government policies on the war against terror had failed, as no matter how much Pakistan did, the US president has persistently been asking for more.
