HYDERABAD, March 10: Activists of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz observed a token hunger strike outside the press club for the second day on Friday to protest against disappearance of the general secretary of the party, Dr Safdar Sarki.

Speaking on the occasion, JSQM leaders Akash Mallah and Dhani Bux Abro said that Dr Sarki had been picked up by personnel of agencies on February 24, and his whereabouts were not known.

They feared that he might have been killed.

They demanded that either the whereabouts of Dr Sarki should be disclosed or he should be released.

Leaders of the Sindh National Council, Hussain Bux Thebo, Dr Dodo Mehri and Punhal Sario, in a statement expressed solidarity with the JSQM.

They said that nationalist leaders were being pushed against the wall and implicated in false cases.

They condemned disappearance of the JSQM and the JSMM leaders and said that Sindh was being treated by Punjab as a conquered territory.

They said that Sindh was generating an income of Rs570 billion per annum for the country but it was receiving only Rs85 billion in return.

They said the programme to construct dams on the Indus River had not been abandoned.

They announced that the Sindh National Council would hold a seminar in Hyderabad on March 14, to mark international day against big dams.
