KARACHI, March 9: Lyari Brothers reached semifinals of All-Pakistan Shaheed-i-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan soccer after a 6-5 sudden death penalty shootout victory over Gwadar Port Trust (GPA) at Colony Sports Football Stadium on Thursday.
The game was extended to sudden death penalty shootout after both sides were locked at 1-1 during stipulated time.
Dur Mohammad gave GPA the first goal in the 15th minute, while Adil Murad levelled for Lyari Brothers five minutes later.
In a last league game, two-goal Abdul Mannan helped Afghan Club to qualify for quarterfinals after a 4-1 victory over KPT.
Although Afghan Club tore KPT defences apart in the later stages of the match, it was KPT who took the lead through Lal Bukhsh in the 15th minute of the first half.
Afghan Club went on a rampage when they equalised through Ahmad Shah five minutes later and then grabbed the lead via Jadid Khan goal in the 55th minute.
Mannan slotted home his first in the 65th and completed the rout five minutes later.
Afghan Club became the group champions after the win, while KPT also reached last eight.
