KARACHI: BoG for Police Hospital approved


KARACHI, March 9: Final approval has been given to a 15-member board of governors for the Police Hospital Karachi. Names for its five-member Managing Committee were also finalized.

The approval in this regard was given at a meeting chaired by Home Minister Sindh Rauf Siddiqi on Thursday with regard to the hospital’s improvement.

The meeting was attended by AIG Investigation Nayyar Hasnain, Secretary Health Dr Naushad Shaikh, Special Secretary Home Rasheed Alam, DIG Headquarters Saud Ahmed, DIG Operations Karachi Mushtaq Shah and MS Police Hospital Karachi Dr Ashraf Saeeduzzaman.

The hospital’s BoG will comprise philanthropic people, industrialists and reputed doctors. It will implement the hospital’s policy.

The home minister will be the BoG’s chairman and the IG Police will be chairman in his absence.

The five-member managing committee will run the hospital management and will be headed by an Additional Inspector General Police.

The minister presented a cheque for Rs10 million on behalf of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz for the hospital to its MS. The donation was given by Prime Minster on the request of home minister.

Rauf directed the Secretary Health and MS Police Hospital to employ all resources and capabilities for bringing an improvement in the hospital so that police personnel and members of their families can be provided better and free medical facilities.

The home minister said the government was taking all possible steps for providing best possible facilities to police personnel.—APP
