KARACHI, March 9: The ministry of commerce (trade organization wing) has accorded approval to the amendments carried by majority vote in the memorandum of association of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, effecting the tenure of the office of president that has been curtailed from two years to one.

“It is the victory of members of the KCCI who had voted for the amendment in its extraordinary general body meeting,” KCCI President Haroon Farooki said here on Thursday.

He urged the government to bring positive and progressive changes in the Trade Organization Ordinance in consultation with genuine businessmen and industrialists and enforce an updated ordinance as soon as possible.—APP
