KARACHI, March 9: Six ships carrying containers, wheat, chemicals and edible oil were anchored at the outer anchorage during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Thursday.

Berthing activity was active as three ships with containers and diesel oil were berthed. Berth occupancy stood at 78 per cent as seven ships were busy in loading and unloading containers, rice, wheat, diesel oil and iron ore.

A record cargo handling was achieved at the Prot on Wednesday March 8, where cargo a volume of 0.112 million tonnes comprising 0.085 million tonnes import cargo and 0.027 million tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,606 containers (boxes) was handled during last 24 hours.

Three ships, Mare Lycium, Mar Riana and Bulk Seahawk were expected to depart the port.

Eight ships, China Star, Al-Wajba, Maya, Bunga Melati Satu, Warbah, Banglar Mookh, Might Michales and Giovanni Dellia, were awaiting their berthing turn at the outer anchorage.
