Naveed, Usman spur Rams

RAWALPINDI, March 8: Naveed Qureshi belted an undefeated 119 and Usman Saeed stroked 93 not out as Rawalpindi Rams walloped Karachi Zebras by eight wickets at the start of the National One-day Regional cricket championship on Wednesday.

Put in to bat at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in this Gold League match, the visitors posted 271-7 off their 50 overs, a total overhauled by the Rams for the loss of two wickets.

Naveed struck 11 boun-daries and three sixes off 102 balls.

Together with Usman, who cracked seven fours, Naved shared an unbroken 217-run partnership for the third-wicket after the home side had lost openers Mohammad Wasim and Mohammad Ibrahim with 58 runs on the board.

The Zebras total revolved round a fine 99 by Shadab Kabir and Naumanullah’s 90.

Both batsmen smashed six fours and two sixes apiece.
