KARACHI: Inter-city bus termini causing problems

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, March 8: Flow of traffic on main University Road near Al-Hilal Society and on almost all the surrounding streets of Taj Medical Complex, M A Jinnah Road often comes to a halt owing to presence of inter-city bus terminals.

Presence of inter-city buses at both the places not only creates hindrance in the smooth flow of vehicular traffic, but also becomes a major source of noise pollution.

During a visit to the main University Road, jumbo-sized buses can be seen parked on one track of the main road. Flow of traffic comes to a halt whenever a bus negotiates a turn. School vans often get stuck in traffic jams, caused due to frequent movement of these buses.

Similarly, the inter-city bus terminus, located near Taj Medical Complex on M A Jinnah Road, has become a major source of nuisance to motorists using adjacent streets as buses normally occupy major portion of streets, leaving hardly only one track for movement of vehicular traffic.

Patients visiting the Hamdard University Hospital and laboratories are the worst sufferers, as they remain disturbed owing to noise pollution.
