KARACHI: Ban on fine nets urged

KARACHI, March 8: Karachi-based fishermen have called for effective enforcement of law banning destructive nets in the creeks of coastal areas of Sindh. The local fishing communities alleged that the highly dangerous and destructive nets, including bullo, gujjo and katra, being currently used in the creeks were killing juvenile fish species. They urged the government to enforce the law and impose ban on the fishing of foreign trawlers.—Staff Reporter
