KARACHI: Women urged to struggle for justice

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, March 8: Women must strive to be a visible, vocal and vibrant force for peace and justice. This was the message of International Women’s Day meeting at the Karachi Press Club.

The meeting was organized by print media women journalists in collaboration with the Karachi Press Club and was attended by leading ladies in the profession.

The function was not rigidly structured and participants who wished to speak were invited to express their views. Some speakers emphasized on the issues and challenges confronting women today. Another speaker was of the opinion that the issue of peace was not receiving sufficient attention.Women should be focusing on this more because it impacts them even more.

The informal discussion was followed by a skit performed by a group of students from Karachi University highlighting the plight of women in a world marred by wars, sabotage and terrorism.

The programme was well attended by journalists from Jang, Dawn, The Nation, Business Recorder, Nawa-i-Waqt, Star, Spider, etc., amongst others.
