India protests over ‘bunkers’

NEW DELHI, March 7: India has registered “strong protests” with Pakistan over the construction of new bunkers on their heavily-militarised border, a minister said on Tuesday.

Junior Home Minister S. Regupathy told parliament that new fortifications were being built in “close proximity” to the volatile border. He did not say where. “It has been reported that Pakistan rangers and army troops are engaged in the construction of bunkers, pillboxes, posts, observation towers and trenches along and in close proximity of the international border,” Regupathy said.
