PU dominate Varsity athletics

LAHORE, March 7: Hosts Punjab University dominated the first day of the Inter-varsity athletics championship for women by winning all ten events held on Tuesday.

The outstanding performance by the PU’s athletes made their points tally 139. Lahore College, University, Lahore grabbed 58 points to occupy the second position while Karachi University with 31 points are at the third place.

Results:

100m hurdles: Sumaira Tayyba (PU) 16.72sec; Imrana Nasir (PU); Farzana Mughal (KU).

800m: Amna Khalid (PU), two min 40.37sec; Fakhra Parveen (PU); Samina (GCU Faisalabad).

Shot putt: Iffat Bano (PU) 10.58m; Amna Butt (LCWUL); Fareena (LCWUL). Long jump: Beenish Amin (PU) 5.22m; Imrana Nasir (PU); Huma Tariq (LCWU).

5000m: Kausar Batool (PU) 23.53 sec; Kausar Batool (PU); Samina Kousar (GCU, FSD).

400m: Amna Khalid (PU) one min 6.41sec; Sumaira Tayyba (PU); Ayesha Nazir (LCWUL). 100m race: Beenish Amin (PU); 12.87sec; Sumaira Tayyba (PU); Huma Tariq (LCWU).

High jump: Shamila Sattar (PU) 1.35m; Nosheen (KU); Huma Tariq (LCWU).

Javelin throw: Rabia Rashid (PU) 30.46m; Amna Butt (LCUL); Afshan (PU).

4x400m relay: Punjab University 4.43.22sec; LCWU; BZ University Multan.
