ISLAMABAD, March 7: Rai Azizullah Khan, MNA, who is also Chairman of National Assembly Standing Committee on Culture, Sports & Youth Affairs, has asked the concerned Secretary as well as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman to attend the next meeting of the committee.
He directed this while chairing a meeting of the Committee on Tuesday to confirm the minutes of the earlier meeting of the Standing committee held on Jan 16, relating to briefing on the Women cricket in Pakistan and District Cricket Associations.
The Chairman as well as the Members of the Committee expressed their serious concern on the absence of the secretary, additional secretary and joint secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Chairman PCB from the meeting, says an official handout.
They directed the joint secretary of the Ministry, who joined the meeting subsequently, to convey their concern to the authorities.
The Committee confirmed the minutes of the meeting held on Jan 16 and deferred the briefing on Women Cricket Pakistan for the next meeting.
While giving presentation on the District Cricket Associations, Javed Zaman Khan, Advisor Grass Roots Cricket and Election Commissioner PCB, informed the Committee that there were 113 cricket associations all over the country and the elections of the associations were completed except for in the six districts.
The Members of the Committee raised a number of questions regarding the discretionary powers of the president of associations to dissolve the association, how the bye-laws were framed, whether all associations have a uniformity in their bye-laws.
They also proposed that for the purpose of election of associations, a particular month may be fixed all over the country, vote of no confidence can be limited for a year or two so that the association can get sufficient time to perform and the rules can be amended according to the changing circumstances.
While concluding the meeting, the Chairman directed the Ministry of Culture and Sports that the Secretary Ministry of Culture and Sports must attend the next meeting along with the Chairman PCB.
The presentation should be more elaborate and meaningful.
The Chairman also directed the Ministry to take up the matter of Aamer Rauf who was 8th in the Mr Universe, with the concerned quarters, resolve the issue and report to the Committee within seven days.
Besides the Chairman, the meeting was attended by Riaz Fatyana, MNA, Mrs Nasim Akhtar Chaudhry, MNA, Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah, MNA and Fazal-e-Subhan MNA. Bushra Aitzaz, Miss Azra Parveen and Mrs Shireen Javed, President Punjab Women Cricket Association, attended the meeting on the special invitation by the Committee.—APP
