PESHAWAR, Mar 7: Maqbool Fatima of Bannu Region was declared best athlete for the Year 2005-06 while Mardan Region clinched overall trophy by scoring 40 points in the NWFP Inter-region girls Under-17 athletics championship held at Qayyum Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Fatima collected 11 points to outshine Humera of Mardan Region and Farzana of Peshawar Region who finished second and third.

Salma Faiz of Peshawar Region won the fastest girl title winning the 100 metre sprint outpacing Fatima.

Azara (Malakand) and and Neelam Naz (Mardan) were joint third.

In the 4X100 relay race, Peshawar Region comprising of Salma, Noreen Khan, Salma Jan and Saira took the gold.

Bannu claimed second spot with Fatima, Anila, Neelam and Zahida while Mardan team of Humera Khan, Husna, Sabiha and Farzana finished third.

200m: Fatima (Bannu); Humera (Mardan); Saima Jan (Peshawar)

400m: Humera (Mardan); Fatima (Bannu); Shernaz Akhtar (Peshawar) joint second; Farzana (Peshawar)

4x100m relay: Peshawar: Salma, Noreen, Salma Jan, Saira; Bannu: Fatima, Anila, Neelam, Zahida Mardan; Humera, Husna, Sabiha, Farzana.

4x400 relay: Peshawar, Mardan, Bannu

800m: Farzana (Mardan); Husna (Mardan); Uzma Ahmed (Peshawar)

100m hurdles: Salma (Peshawar); Fatima (Bannu); Humera (Mardan)

High jump: Rabia Ali (Mardan); Noreen (Peshawar; Farzana (Mardan)

Long jump: Humera (Mardan); Ishrat (Malakand); Fatima (Bannu)

Discuss throw: Ishrat (Malakand); Saira Mehmood (Malakand; Uzma (Peshawar)
